Katherine Lam
Licensed Professional Counselor, MA
My personal philosophy of counseling begins and ends with grace and a willingness to enter into an individual’s experience alongside them. I entered this field because I feel that I have an authentic listening heart that desires to see people live as whole, healthy individuals. I have a passion for issues related to anxiety, depression, trauma, and marriage & family. I believe that each person is a unique individual who is capable of self-awareness, freedom of choice, responsibilities, and the search for value and meaning in life. As a counselor, I desire to facilitate the process of a client solving their personal problems while also demonstrating a genuine concern and compassion for their dilemmas. I often try to identify individual approaches that work best for each client. No client is the same; therefore I don’t believe in utilizing a “cookie cutter” approach to therapy.
Katherine’s specialties and experience in counseling include depression, anxiety, domestic violence, childhood and adult trauma, attachment and relational trauma, parent/child conflicts, and grief. Katherine has had great success working with teens and adults of all ages and life stages. Katherine is also fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese.
